Athlete of the month- Senior Quarterback / Safety Robert Hill
By: Shaee Flatt /MJHS newspaper/November 12, 2007
The star quarterback, Robert Hill, of the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears Varsity Football team has had a great season so far and is very fun to watch as he can scramble out of the pocket and make a play with his legs or he can beat you deep with his laser rocket arm.
Hill is fast for a quarterback but also has great arm strength and accuracy on his throws. He can throw the ball on a frozen rope and get it to the receiver or he can put some touch on it and beat you over the top.
Hill is the all around quarterback that a lot of teams would love to have and with him being a balanced quarterback when asked if he enjoyed running the ball or throwing it more, he said that he would prefer to throw it but if protection breaks down and he has to run then he will.
He also said that the good start from the team is credit to the entire team and coaching staff and everyone has done his part. He said that the MVP or MVPs depending on how you look at is the offensive line.
Robert’s favorite play of the season came on the last play of the half against Gallatin when Robert evaded multiple defenders in the backfield and then evaded some more as he rolled out and threw the ball down the field to Collin Earnhardt who apparently stepped out bounds at the one inch line (but to everybody other than the ref it appeared to be a touchdown).
Hill said that out of the three positions he has played in high school, quarterback, wide receiver, and safety that his favorite was wide receiver.
When asked where he wanted to go to college and whether or not he wanted to play college football there, the star responded by saying “I don’t know where yet but yes I do want to play college football”. Robert has had a great season so far and hopefully he can keep it up as the team has a 3-1 record so far and will travel to Lebanon this Friday night to take on the Blue Devils.
