Back to A&L

Written by Tiffany Hawkins

It was the beginning of the end for me when I walked into the class. There was only a few people here today. When I asked where everyone was the class answered, "The rest of the class is sick." I thought that it was weird that a lot of people were sick, but I didn't care much. I went to my seat and sat. The teacher was talking to us about the work we needed to do today. The work was the weirdest thing we ever did before. I keep getting the feeling that something was not right. I looked around the class and everyone was working quietly. Then, out of nowhere one of the kids slumped and fell out of their seat. The teacher looked up "Looks like someone is sick," she said. This was all wrong. I couldn't understand what in the world was happening. Today had to be the weirdest day of my life. Not even five minutes later it happened again. A kid slumped in his seat and fell over. It was like they had the plague or something. Even weirder was the fact that everyone acted like this was something normal. A cold chill suddenly hit my spinal column and I struggled to recover. The room spun and through the growing disarray I could see my teacher morph into a blacker. I hit the floor with a huge bang and the only thing I saw was the cartoon birds flying around my head. Everyone around me kept working. It was like they didn't even notice I was gone. All the sudden I found myself in a dark void. I was just floating aimlessly without a purpose. I thought to myself, "Am I dead?" It felt like I was, but suddenly I awakened in my bed and it was all just a crazy dream.
